Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Drive-Through
If you are using the drive-through lanes, please stay in your car during drop-off and pick-up!
Morning Drop-Off Rules (7:20-7:40)
-To help make drop-off safe and easy each morning, please follow these rules:
-The school drive has two lanes for drop-off:
-Lane 1 (next to the sidewalk):A staff member will be there to help students get out of the car. This is the best lane for a quick drop-off.
-Lane 2 (inside lane):
Students must wait for a staff member to open the car door and help them cross Lane 1.
Please do not let students get out of the car by themselves in Lane 2.
Merkel Elementary Dismissal Procedures
Pre-K Dismissal 3:35 PM
- Location: Back parking lot off of South Third Street
- Look for: Gym entrance doors
- Note: If you have older children, you will have time to drive to the front of the school for their dismissal.
Kindergarten - 5th Grade Dismissal: 3:45 PM
- Where: Main entrance (South 4th into the Elementary drive)
- Two pick-up lanes:
- Lane 1 (next to the sidewalk): This is best for families with younger students.
- Lane 2 (inside lane): A staff member will walk students to your car.
Exit 2 Dismissal: 4:00 PM
- (This was previously Exit 3 or Exit 16)
Walkers: 4:00 PM
Thank you for being patient as we make dismissal run smoothly during the first few days.
We are happy to tell you that we will soon have a new program for when students leave school! This system will not change how you pick up your child. But it will make things safer.
